Marcel Cognasson covered the 40km course in 1h36'52"; the second, Eugene Oltz clocked 1h39'22". 64 competitors were at the start on the quai de Grenelle. At the Tourelles swimming pool, having followed the city walls from the Seine, Cognasson broke away, chased by Oltz. But between the porte des Lilas and the finish at the Champ de Mars, the winner Cognasson was never threatened.
