You'll notice that early T.A. pedals (above) had a much blockier shape than the later models (below), which are produced by T.A. to this day, thanks to the demand for them (presumably) from french cyclotourists. Note the more cutaway cage, the flip tab, and the more sculpted pedal body. There are also versions with grey anodized cages.
This pair appears to have had the cages replaced with the special order black chrome ref:690 cages - I've never seen black chrome mentioned as a stock option on these pedals, though knowing TA, it may well have been possible.
