Critérium des Porteurs de Journaux - 12 Feb 1927

From La Pèdale (France), 02 Feb 1927:

Some useful information for the Critérium des porteurs de journaux

Although we are still a little less than two weeks away from the second Critérium cycliste des porteurs de journaux which, it is known, is organized on February 13 by l'Echo des Sports in collaboration with l'Intransigeant and La Pèdale, the list of entrants is covered with names. It now greatly exceeds one hundred, and that justifies the large interest which is attached to this simultaneously sporting and utilitarian race.
The primes
We have noted how the primes allocated to the race were numerous and of importance. It is pleasant for us to underline today the particularly generous gesture of the large Esders firm, whose attentions, with regard to the sporting races, are not doubted for a moment.

The house of Esders offers 500 francs of primes. These primes will be distributed in the form of five certificates of 100 Francs, redeemable in goods in one of the stores of this sporting firm.

The attribution of these premiums will be made later on. But we have the pleasure to underline this beautiful gesture of Henri Esders.
Let us also add
A two-speed Cyclo read derailleur, for the oldest porteur to finish the race, offered by Etablissement Cyclo, of Saint-Etienne.

A Liberta double chainwheel, a Liberta two-speed freewheel, a Liberta two-speed cog, offered by Mr. Ducuing, cycles, 2, impasse Guéménée, which also proposes "to take along to make their round, on board his Moto-Tri-Ninon, the day after the race, anyone who has an accident".

Thanks to all these generous donaters.

To enter
The registry of entrants is at the disposal of future competitors, at the Café de la Grille, 121, rue Montmartre.

Let us recall that no entry can be recorded if it is not accompanied by the entry fee of 5 francs, which is refundable. Let us also firmly specify that the fact of being registered does not imply the acceptance of the competitor, the questions of qualification remaining within the exclusive domain of the technical Commission.

The stables are assembled for the Critérium Cycliste des Porteurs de Journaux.

Thus we learned, yesterday, that Flahaut, last year's winner, hot favorite of this year, and Lenoir, the glorious third of the race, would climb up to the 13e, for the famous cycles credited to the young constructeur Uldry, who is besides, a specialist in porteur bicycles.

Flahaut and Lenoir will surely not be far from the winner, if we believe some "tubards"!
